Interior wood around shifter...
The wood trim around my shifter is coming up (about 1/2 inch, barely noticeable unless you look hard) at the front of it. How can I fix that, or is it just glued on?
Anyone know how much a chrome insert is for the surround? Is there a shifter indicator (indicates that you are in a certain gear at night) for later models that I could install in an '83 380sel? Thanks,

That's easy. The reason is that the front lip of the center console wood is broken. Only a couple days ago I posted the link to an earlier "how-to" repair this break. You can find out how right here .
While you are in there fixing your broken wood, you can take the few extra seconds to replace the shifter bulb conveniently hidden in the front left corner of the shift gate. I have yet to find a chrome surround that fits right, still looking though.
