No W124 chassis in the USA came with limited slip. ASD was offered on diesel models from 1991-95.

IN other markets(euro) limited slip was offered.

There was also an AMG limited slip (40%) available, and higher locking values for cars without ABS. Might still be available on order from AMG?

thanks for info, gents!

I have the "124 owner's bible" and re: the diff, it says to make sure you use the special fluid if you have the limited slip, which it says you can tell if there's a little sticker on the diff, which made me think some 124s came with it. you'd think it would mention that none of the US 124s had it since the book is really for the US market. I have also suspected I didn't have lsd because i've experienced some vicious wheelspin w/o moving l when I had one wheel on a big steel grate (covering a sewer or something) and the other on pavement.
