WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE TOOL USE BY MERCEDES TECHS. THAT CONNECTS THE NEW TIMING CHAIN TO THE OLD; "WHICH MAKES INSTALLATION A LOT QUICKER"- and how much is it!

The tool you looking for is pressing tool for chain master link 000-589-58-43-00 also
you will need 103-589-01-63-00 for engine 102
& 103 riveting set. $$ you have call dealer.

Hello, MB--

Do you know the chain master link part number for an '86 300SDL, 6cyl, chassis 126? And a riveting set is also necessary? What about the extra chains and guides and whatnot?

Sorry for all the questions. Am completely clueless about timing chains.

You will need to use the master link in the new chain, then you have to purchase a tool that guides the chain onto the sprocket without the chain jumping teeth.
Then you need the tool to press the link together and crimp the end. Not to mention the tool that pulls the rail pins out and the one to set the injection pump up when done.
