Air Conditioner cut out in storm~
today we had a torrential downpour here in south jersey.
while driving home my air condioner-defroster cut out.. was just moving air ..ie.. warm air not cold. when i arrived home I let the car sit for about 30 mins started her up again and walah the air works again~ any ideas on what could have happend? really needed the de-fogging of the windshield 1990 2.5 300 turbo diesel

Compressor taken off line by protection circuit?... a wet poly-V-belt can cause compressor clutch slippage.
Is your engine compartment encapsulation pan intact? |

Yes pan is intact.. like I said we had A TORRENTIAL storm
I MEAN STREETS WITH OVER 3 INCHES OF RAIN~ hehe never saw something like it all of a sudden ac compressor kicked off. had to be humidity or wetness hitting something..,

Just water on the belt, I'm sure. Wouldn't worry about it if it doesn't recur under milder conditions.
