I have a w124, '86. There is a problem with the driver's door lock. When I put the key in the lock button inside goes down but the door is not locked. I also know that this button should not go down unless the door is closed as it does now.
If anybody knows how to fix it, please e-mail your reply to me at: linex2@yahoo.com. because I have no access to the manuals. Thanks in advance. |

You probably have a link off inside the door. Take the dor panel off and watch the mechanism; you should see the link.

It is either what Steve suggested, a link off, or what I encountered on my 108. The connecting rod between the inside door handle and the lock assembly had somehow gotten bent. When locking the door, the button would go down, but not far enough. The bend in the linkage short stroked the throw, which kept the lock assembly from completing it's travel. Result - the door looked locked but wasn't. Check the 90 degree bends at each end, as well as overall shape of the long linkage. The 90 degree at the lock assembly was the culprit on mine.
