280ce engine problems

I have a old mercedes--1980ce that has been in the garage and not operated in two yrs.It did start. When under load and accelerating---it coughs---hesitates--a few times.I hear a noise comming from the rear--under the car--I think it must be the fuel pump with a fillter. The noise is steady--and shrill. The engine is a 110.The engine is fuel injected.Also.The "damper"--if that is the correct term isa bit stiff. The car ran fine when I put it in storagge.Any suggestions woulld be hellpfull. Thanks,Fred

Drain and flush the fuel first. It is likely the injectors are stuck closed.

You will need to verify fuel pressure is at least 70psi and then go for it. New fuel and sustained running can clear the effects of the gummy fuel, if the new fuel can flow.
