1989 420 Ignition Coil

I went to install a new ignition coil on a 1989 420, but the terminals are on the opposite side on the new bosch coil. The old coil has the distributor lead terminal towards the back end of the car. The new coil has the distributor lead terminal at the front end of the car. The part number on the bosch box is 0 221 502435 8SE.

The wires might reach to the terminals on the new coil. But then cap won't fit properly.

Do I have the right part? Has anyone else had this problem, if so, what did you do to work with the new part?

I just replaced mine yesterday. All the books are wrong, Standard, bosch, Borg Warner.. Finally found the Bosch 0084 (short number) is the correct one. Works like a charm. Solved the hard start and stalling on deceleration problems. Good luck.

Wrong part number

I found that the computer system my supplier was using had the wrong part number. I think the correct last 3 digits on the mercedes benz part should be 433 and the computer showed 435. Bosch technical support did have the correct part number. Also, you can go to Bosch's web site and get the correct Bosch part number.

My experience came from ordering a Borg Warner at O'Reilly's, A Standard at NAPA and a Bosch at a local house, Barron Motor Supply. All the parts were incorrect. And all made in Slovenia. I thought they were just dyslexic but Barron's called Louie in Chicago and he found the right part. BTW, the first Bosch part came from Bosch.
