300E aux fan not coming on..HELP!!

Hello Board,

I thought my radiator was the culprit of my overheating problems, it turns out that the aux fan is not cutting in at 100C or at any temp above that . It works when my A/C is on, but when I turn off the A/C the fan turns off about 10 seconds after. By then the temp is about 100C. When the temp rises over 100 C it does not become activated, what could be the culprit??

Temp sensor??

HELP!!

The temp gets all the way to 120 C and the fan still does not cut in.

thermoswitch

The thermoswitch that controls the HI SPEED FANS is located on the top of the cyl head on the 103 engine. There are two plugs there, the one with two wires runs the fans.Disconnecting this plug with the ign "on"should turn fans to HI speed. If this happens ,chances are the sensor in the head is faulty...approx 25.oo for the part,5-10 min to change.Hope this helps.

Is that the one with the 2 black plugs??

There is one with 2 black plugs. (near #6 spark plug)

One with 2 prongs and a plug(near #3 sparkplug)

and One with 2 vacuum lines(near #1 sparkplug)

It's located just to the right of the air filter housing about half way back. The plug has the following # on it:011 5457128,the top of the sensor the plug goes to is blue.Hope this helps.

Mine worked differently. The plug on the sensor needed to be jumped to trigger fan. Oh, and my sensor is green, and I have 1 aux fan.

Setup must vary somewhat, depending...
Perhaps this will help.
Best of luck.

Mine is like csnow.
I need to jump the 2 terminals to run the fan, or directly ground one of the 2.
