electric windows and indicators stopped working
hi there,
yesterday my electric windows and indicators stopped working, although the hazard lights work fine. i have also noticed that the petrol tank indicator has droppted to zero. i have checked the fuse box but all seems okay in there, i would be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction for what is probably a very easy fix. many thanks in advance jab 1982 W123 200T |

Welcome to the Forum!
You problem doesn't sound that unusual. It does come up. Often it is corrosion at the ends of the fuses. Try rotating them in their sockets several times. Pull several and check to see if there is any. Because the typical fuse is made out of aluminum but the socket springs are brass, you get corrosion. Here is one of many postings discussing the problem. Use the search feature in the upper right-hand corner. Electrical problem Keep us posted, Haasman

thanks so much,
i knew it was something simple and everything pointed to it being a fuse but i never thought to clean the contacts! i had decided in my mind (stupidity) that it must be a relay. anyway, thanks once again, i'll try the search facility next time. i see you have a 911, i have an '82 SC. unfortunately it's due a gearbox rebuild......ouch! but it'll be worth it, i intend keeping this car a long time and the rest of the car is pretty mint. like yours, it may be old but it still turns heads, and even at twenty one years old the finish on mine looks better than any modern car. regards justin
