Head Gasket Form PartsShop Ok??

Hi All,

Thanks for all of the great info about the 300 CE Headgasket replacement. I've just about got the head ready to remove.

After searching through the archives, the advice of using a Genuine MB headgasket comes up several times due to the changes/updates in the headgasket.

Is the headgasket available @ PartsShop here on the forum
comparable.? I've ordered serveral items from PartsShop and have found all of them to be of a very good quality.

Thanks

The OE head gasket is made by Elring ON the M103/104 engines!
Did you get an Elring gasket? Reinz & Goetze also make OE head gaskets BUT not for those engines. ONLY the Elring gasket has the modified reinforcement around the oil passages where they leak.

I recently took a couple pictures of two of the factory head gaskets (that may be all or there may be more.

The gasket on the left is from MB and points out the reinforced areas at the front. The gasket on the right is a factory MB gasket for a 1990 300CE 104 motor. Note it doesn't have those reinforcments but is the factory gasket.

Thanks

Thanks Stevebfl and MBDoc.,

I have'nt ordered the head gasket as of yet. My plan was to take everything apart. (should be finished tonight) and then make a list of everything I need before placing an order with fastlane. I always hate to be in a middle of a job and find out I'm missing a part.

I did'nt want to do the entire job and then find out I was using an "old style" head gasket.

Brian
