HELP! Oil Leak on E320
I noticed a puddle of oil under my low-mileaged E320 Wagon. I took of the pan under the engine, it had been dripping, collected, and overflowed. The bottom of the oil pan was saturated. There is oil also under the exhaust manifold on the passenger side only and only at the very front. There is no oil on the side of the engine past the 2nd exhaust outlet. There isn't nearly as much oil on the side of the engine as there is on the pan, and the driver's side is bone dry. Please tell me it's the pan gasket and not the head gasket! Finally, how do you ask the dealer to tell you the service history of the car? It runs great.
Thanks. |

I would clean it up with gunk, wash it down, and then get a better picture of where it's leaking. More than likely it's the front upper timing chain cover.

E320 Leak
Yeah, I have an 1995 E320 sedan. Just 2 months ago my upper timing chain cover busted a nasty leak. Cost about 600 to repair. Looks like a problem with this year. I already did the Head Gasket job on this car as well. Great Engine though. It's worth it.
