Passenger airbag disabling before dash work...

In reading through the repair guide on CD - it warns to deactivate the passenger airbag before doing any work inside the dash.

how many of you do this?

ps: I tend to take this seriously having worked in the past for the company that made the air bag explosives....

I don't have the answer but I can pass along a few tips.

Remember the electrical shock you get opening the door to get out of the car? This same charge can set off the air bag, even if it's disabled. Sliding around the interior while you're working can develop a lot of this dangerous static electricity.

Some web sites won't even allow "how to" discussion on air bags for liability and practical reasons.
