Well my wifes 420 has 150k on it and the timining chain is starting to make noise. So decided to launch a preemtive strike and replace the chain befor it breaks. During tear down I noticed the water pump was leaking so I decided to change it while I was at it. Problem is I can't get two of the bolts out. One is behind the harmonic dampner, the opther is behind the ditributor.
What is the trick to removing these bolts?

Thanks in advance.
Bob

Roll the engine to top dead center and drop a little paint on the front pulley assembly. Now take off the distributor cap and rotor and notice where it sits. There is a line on the housing of the distributor that it lines up to when the engine is at top dead. Take out the distributor housing...Take off the front pullyes by taking out the 5 13mm bolts inside the pulleys. Take off the harmonic. It will come off now that the pulley is off. You do not need to take off the big 27mm bolt in the front. Trust me...

Now the bolts on the pump will come out.

Thanks for the help! Worked like a champ. One more question, do I need to use any permatex on the water pump gaskets or do I put them on dry?
