Transmission Valve Body

I have a 92 300E with 169k. Recently, while driving down the freeway it will shift into nuetral. Sometimes it won't shift into 4th gear either.

I talked with a few techs and they suspect the valve body in the tranny is clogged and should be cleaned out. They also mentioned this is a complicated device and not a job for a DIY'r.

Does anyone know about this?

Bigmon,

I can recommand you a search on the autotranny : tons of information on this board about it !
The first thing to do is checking the oillevel. It's very important that you know exactly how to do that (if you don't). Even that is explained in former topics.

your filter was clogged with worn clutch. dont forget to drain the convertor. do yourself a favor and change it again in a month. after that, at every oil change, remove the 5mm allen plug in the pan. 3 quarts will not kill you. Have your modulating pressure and kickdown cable professionally adjusted.......
