380sel timming chain diagram
i was wondering if anybody could e-mail me a diagram for the timmng chain set up on the 380 v8 engine as i have to pull of the heads to do the valve guides

thank you for the photo,it has helped me heaps.
i am down to the exhaust manifolds and just have the chains and gears left before i pull of the heads. if i pull out the tensioner,and drop chains gently,will i run into any problems and is the large gear in the middle just and idler or does it have to line up,also does the distributor drive gear have to line up on a certain mark. once again,thank you |

Before you remove the sprockets to release the chain, bring #1 cylinder to TDC, which should align the marks on the front cam tower and thrust washer. Then put a dab of paint on the chain and sprocket to further aid you in reassembly.
Be sure to check for chain stretch with the marks aligned - lots of posts on how to do this and this would be a good time to do the chain if needed.
