ATF checking- lint-free cloth?

this might sound a bit silly, but what cloth do you use for checking your ATF dipstick? It seems in ehat i've read the ATF is very picky so an old t-shirt seems out of the question as even they shed tiny little fibers.
Am I beeing too pedantic?!
Where would I get a safe, lint-free cloth?
Even the ones at AutoZone that said 'lint free' seem to shed easily...

Wash your hands completely and use your fingers.
This is an old mechanics method to prevent lint from entering the tranny. You can allow the tranny fluid to drip on a rag, even a lint rag. But don't touch it while servicing the tranny.
I know it sounds strange but it is probably the best way to check and service the transmission.
Place the dipstick between your index finger and thumb. Slide the dipstick up through your fingers and it will be clean enough
for the subsequent dip and check of the fluid level.

So will a paper towel or a tee shirt. Look at the dip stick to be sure that you are not putting lint into your Dipstick hole.
