Need Opinions on the 2.3 engine

Hello All,

I'm looking for opinions from owners of the 2.3 liter engine. I need a 4-door (a few times a month for work) and am considering purchasing a C230.

Although I started looking at the C-280's, (I've seen quite a few reasonable C-280's), a family friend may be willing to give me a pretty nice deal on his C-230. Comming from the 300CE, I'm very happy with the 3.0 and just wanted to get opinions on the 2.3 4cyl.

I'm still just tempted to find myself a 92 & up 300E / E-320. I'm just so comfortable with the 300CE, I'm hesitent to change. (But that's another topic).

Thanks

Assuming you are refering to the M111 four cylinder, most agree they are very reliable although a little coarse. The M111 will not be as smooth or quiet as your 300CE (assuming it has the M103) but should prove more reliable and should also be more reliable than an M104 (eg. 300CE-24, early C280, E280 or E320). Unless power is of great importance to you, I would be reluctant to dispose of an M103 powered car (assuming your 300CE is) for one with an M104.

Thanks

Thanks Greg for the info.

My wife asked the question:

"I can't believe you would get rid of the CE for a sedan. It just does'nt seem like you"!

My response:

Who said anything about getting rid of the CE??

I think the only way that the CE will "go" is if the SL-500 takes it's place. (I'm just a "coupe person"). "My baby stays" (but will have a new little sedan friend.)
