Question W140 S500 Oil Pressure warning at high speed

Dear All,
My friend's car is travelling on highways in China daily.
Recently found whenever it going faster than 120km/h, the oil pressure warning lamp comes ON (in yellow color). Oil pressure gauge needle functions...

Performed these:

Replaced engine oil & filter
Replaced the oil pressure sensor unit

What else can I trace?

Appreciate any tips or comments about this.

A lot of guys with M119 engines look at the cam oiler tubes.

They are made of plastic and either crack or fall of.

The replacement tubes are metal.

There is a lot of discussion of this on the forum

Do a search for "cam oiler tubes" or "cam oil tubes" and you'll find a lot to read. There are even detailed pictures posted in some of the threads.

I've never seen a W140 with an oil pressure warning light. All the ones I've seen have a yellow oil LEVEL warning light. But maybe there is such a feature on the newer W140s that I can't afford.

If the light is yellow and has a picture of an oil can it is the oil level indicator. As I get near the end of my 3K oil change interval, my oil level has dropped by about one quart, when it gets down one quart the oil level lamp will come on when the engine is running over 3K rpm for more than a couple minutes. What I surmise is happening is the oil is being pumped faster than it is returning to pan which causes the level to drop enough at speed to trigger the lamp.

No MB has an oil pressure warning light that I can recall. the light is for oil level, as stated above. On all the MB's I've owned, it comes on when the oil reaches the "add" level on the dipstick.

This system might be malfunctioning.

Anyone still wonder why I would be a little ticked not having an oil-level dipstick??

Lightbulb

i checked the oil level again, it's lower than before. It could be the level too low and when the car was driving at high speed, insufficient oil level triggered the warning lamp...

Further, I also found this "switch" cracked and leaks oil.

Can anyone advise me what this "switch" is??

I think I better replace it ASAP, but need some help naming this part.

Tks!!

OIl Pressure

My 92 500SEL, has a oil pressure guage, and a indicator lamp that illuminates when there is no pressure. It is similar to the fuel guage when it goes into reserve, the engine idles at very low pressure, except when the oil is cold. It moves up with rpms, and my dealer assured me it is normal. There also is a low OIL indicator in the cluster. driven by a sensor in the pan!
