M119 oil pressure drop

Earlier today, i glanced down at my oil gauge, and it was flatlined on zero!

I pulled off the road, waited three hours for a tow, and when I got to the mechanics', upon starting, it pegged to the top of the gauge! Happily, I drove away, only to notice 15 minutes later that at slow speeds the gauge was again reading at zero, but with acceleration, the pressure would rise to two or three. I drove straight home and parked it, and will have it towed to my regular shop on Monday morning. Question--if it is not the oil pump, but rather the sender (hope, hope!) would it reflect the normal rise and fall of the oil pressure, but just be lower? Or if it was the sender, would it quit altogether?
I need some good news today.

Its the sender.

I did mine on the 400E @~ 120Kmi. Oil pressure reads very low and intermitent. Might as well do the oil sender update. Do a search on "raka raka"

My friend the MB mechanic had a similar complaint. Tried changing the sending unit, but didn't fix it. Oil pressure is indeed VERY low at idle.

I'll check again, but I believe the cure was to replace the oil filter housing. This holds the pressure relief valve, and he was thinking there was something in it, or the valve or seat was scored, allowing enough oil to leak by at idle to drop the pressure to nearly zero.

I'd rather spend the money on a new relief valve than on mains!

Yeah that's it

The pressure relief valve is the mod update that I was speaking of
make that "raka, raka"
