W123 Front suspension Height
Hello Folks,
Some time ago I refurbished my front suspension, when I refitted it, I delayed torqueing it up until the weight of the car was on the suspension as stipulated in my manual. At the time the car did not have front wings fitted, but since fitting the new wings the gap between the top of the tyre and the wheel arch looks excessive.I have tried slackening of the swinging arm bolts and bouncing the suspension to settle it down, but to no avail, the distanced from the centre of my wheel to the centre of the wheel arch edge is 17.75inches or 450mm.Can you tell me if this is right, if not what could be wrong, I even removed the shock absorbers just incase, although I knew them to be ok. Thankyou David |

Hello Haasman,
Yes what I call wings are what you call fenders. Do you think an English/American phrase post would be a good idea? David |

Well, I know some would be confused by boot or bonnets!
Did you change shock absorbers? (Dampeners) Haasman

Hello Haasman,
No I have not changed my shock absorbers, as when I refurbished the suspension I checked them and they are ok. Even so when the suspension would not settle down I began to suspect them and so removed them to prove a point, which it did as it made no difference at all to the height. Thankyou David |
