I have a problem with my W124. Steering wheel starts swerving to the sides as I slow down before an intersection. I live in one of the former Soviet republics and roads here are not very smooth especially at the intersections because some of them have furrows in the pavement and it feels like the front wheels catch those and stay in them. My question is whether it is a wheel alignment problem or not? All the steering mechanism seem to be in a good shape.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a tire problem to me. Tire or wheel, maybe mounting flange. One of the rotating parts.
