My car is an '87 300D Euro 4matic, and the front right strut (shocks) seems to squeak a lot when making a turn or when passing through bumps.
I've seen a lot of posts stating that the ball joints and/or tie rod ends could be at fault. I've checked these, and the problem seems to be with the right front strut. Is it possible for a strut to be internally damaged? How do I check if the strut has failed? Thanks a lot. ------------------ Jake |

Anything is possible Jake. Sway bar bushings can be noisy, Upper mount for the strut can be noisy if damaged. Try this. Push down on the good corner of the car and see if it makes any noise while it's going up and down. Do the same on the bad side. If it squeaks while it's going up and down, then.. it might be the strut. But, it might be a bunch of other stuff as well. How did you check the ball joints and the tie rods? The strut can be damaged, but most of the squeak noises in front ends come from someplace else..
