Recently picked up a '92 2.5 turbo for $4k. It needs a little work but nothing I can't knock out over the next month or so.

2 w123s

1st was 83 300D in 2005 for $3000 it had 292K on it when I got it and it being my first MB purchase I think I paid about $1000 more than I should have, but I love it and think it turned out OK.

2nd was 78 280CE last month for $2500 - this was a sweet deal because of low mileage and excellent condition - I would have paid up to $4k if bidding had gone higher.

Someone from this sight, sent this reply to one of my threads, "the most expensive car, is a cheap Mercedes."
He was right.
so far spent $1000 for parts and am far from finished.
You gotta figure though $2500 to drive a MB isn't a bad price - sometimes doubling the cost of your purchase still works out to be a good deal in the long run.

1998 E320 sedan-$9,000 95k mi sold for $8500 115k mi two years later(I got tired of dealing with rust)
1995 E320 wagon- $7200 105k mi, great car
1999 e320 wagon- $12000, 83k, just bought, we will see
1977 450 sel- free from uncle who wanted it out if his garage, but he paid $24,000 for it in 1977

If you do the work yourself, Mercedes is the best bang for your buck, and you get to drive a nice car too!

I bought my 86 300 SDL for $500 . The owners daughter was driving it when she had a blow out and found she couldn't remove the wheel. It has a case of seized lug nuts.I've gotten 3/4 of them off and am also bringing all the maintenance needs up to date.

bought 1st MB last week

I bought a 83 300D Turbo from the original owner for $3,000. It has 201,000 miles with no rust or dents. Original paint, etc. I made a list and ordered about $1,000 worth of parts for the A/C, Steering and misc stuff to make it better. The car has been kept under a carport all its life. I think I got a deal, but I really don't know that much about these cars...yet. KRW

Bought in 2001 a 1985 500sel with 100k for $7,500 and now has 215k miles. Car was mint and still is almost mint. I think is was a good deal. Only major investment was a/c compressor.

Purchase Price

I paid 1,500. for a 1995 C 280 with 75K last year. Thought this was a good deal. I am looking for a replacement MBZ for our 1990 300 SEL, does anyone know the GOOD years for used Mercedes? What years should I avoid?

You guys make my cry with all the good deals. I think I paid too much for my ride. So much that I am embarrassed to tell. If only I had found this forum earlier.

What I paid

2007 E550 new. about 70K after tax, plates etc. Not many E550's seen in this part of the country. People probably worried about operating costs. Maybe those folks would be more comfortable driving a Chevy or Ford.

Looks like there is a big difference in price between W124 300E and W124 300CE for the same age and conditions. 1988 300CE with 90K sells often around $4-$5K. One seems to be better off (budget wise) with the Sedan version.

I just paid 3k for an 82 300D (250k) awesome condition in and out and that price is a steal up here in Canada. They are still going for between 5-8k for the 80-85 123 diesels...So I hope it was a good deal but I think it was.
