auto to standard tranny swap 84300td wagon

a friend of mine has a 82 gas wagon with a 4 speed he would like to get rid of and offered any parts I might want or need before he junks it.Among other things,I'd love to swap the tranny.Is this possible?If it is, how involved is it?I've pulled many a trans but never converted a car.
