I bought an 85 380se two months ago. Two questions: The steering has some play in it, just enough to be a distraction. The front suspension has been replaced. Is this something I just have to live with, or can it be adjusted? I also had the a/c evacuated. The tech said the system has two leaks (to the tune of $450) but that it should last me indefinitely until the r-12 runs out. Will this damage anything? It blows pretty cold and it cools the car off in 5-10 minutes on automatic.

Yes the P/S box can be adjusted, but since the adjustment is at the top of the box & it is almost against the exhaust manifold it can be a pain.

you have to do the adjustment with the manifold cool, and do it from underneath. You have to back the screw out (counter-clockwise looking from top) to tightenit up. Jack it up and put on stands. Then try turning the wheel 1/2 turn each way after each 1/2 turn of adjustment. You may not be able to get all the play out without the gears binding. SOL in that case live with it or rebuild the box(+/-$500)
