My young daughter was cleaning the windshield of my '86 300E, when she called me because she could not put the wiper back down. I've never had to change the wiper and I'm at a loss as to how to bring the wiper down without quite a bit of force.
The manual is no help. What's the secret? Any help is appreciated. Neal |

There should be a release pin or lever at the hinge point on the wiper arm. Look carefully as some are hard to spot. I'm not sure on the 86, but this is how my neighbor's 84 was made.
Hope this helps ------------------ William 76 240D - 550K miles 78 300D - 200K+ miles |

On our 300E the wiper will lock up at around a 30 degree angle. Firm pressure near the hinge ought to return the arm to the normal position.
