Bilsteen Rear Shocks For W126?

I understand Bilsteen shocks are OEM replacement for a 1991 WS126. Is there any reason to get the Heavy Duty version over the standard version if the car is used on an ordinary basis?

Thank you.

Provided that the car is not "lowered" or you do not routinely carry heavy loads or use the W126 for towing, sounds like you're a candidate for the Bilstein Comfort shocks.

I too debated the 'comfort' vs 'HD' Bilstiens, and went with the comforts. they're excellent- stiff enough for better handling, but not as soft as the originals. Much better ride.

Stick with the Comforts. When I had my '88 420 SEL, I put HD's on the rear. Result?

Uneven handling; harsh bump reactions in rear; affected overall balance of vehicle. Not a good idea.

Comforts are the ticket!!

I don`t think you have rear shocks. should be hydro in the rear.

I think the 420 SEL has rear shocks....the 560 SEL has the hydraulic self-leveling system.
