Radiator Fan Rubbing
1990 300E: My radiator fan started slightly rubbing against one of the pulleys. (a) Can I just shave-off edge of each blade to prevent rubbing? (b) What may be the cause of this movement of blade or pulley? (c) Is this sign for major repair job? (d) Any advice to fix the problem?
Any advice will be highly appreciated |

Sounds like a worn out fan bearing. See how much play you have in the fan (front to back). If it is worn you will need a new fan bearing bracket.

RADIATOR FAN RUBBING
Thanks. Could you tell me what does it involve to replace the fan bearing? I assume the radiator has to come out first to work on the fan, and there will not be any need to remove the serpentine belt? Do I need special tool to remove the fan & the bearing?
