More light for a 95 W124??
I went to an independent MB repair shop yesterday and a mechanic said that for more light for a 95 E320, you should put in eighty-one-hundreds. I assume he means bulbs or something...
Can someone please explain this further? Would a local auto parts store have eighty-one-hundreds? Thanks! |

He means headlight bulbs that are 80/100 watts - 80 watts on low beam and 100 on high beam. I'm not sure if that's safe on the wiring unless you're going to use relays, so try at your own risk.

Speedy,
What do you recommend for watts for a 95 W124 for brighter light? |

I use Philips Vision Plus H4 bulbs. They are 55/60W rated bulbs and I think they are bright enough and the light color is whiter than usual and the beam pattern is really nice and sharp (could just be the housing though).

Those cars use H4 bulbs, and there are TONS of different types available. First and foremost, I'd check to see if your headlights are aimed properly. Check out http://www.danielsternlighting.com for the procedure on that. He sells good bulbs too.
1995 W124's have pretty good stock headlights. I don't think upgrading to Euro lights would be a huge difference, like on the 1986-1993 W124's. |

The lights on this 95 W124 are very poor and it has 9,000 miles on it so there isn't much wear on the headlights.

Did you check the aim of the headlights? Please do this first and foremost, as upgrading your bulbs will accomplish NOTHING if the aim of the lamp is off.
