The central locking system on my 99 e 430 closes the doors once the car starts moving.Can the system on a 97 e 320 be programmed to do the same? How?

I guess you mean that it locks the doors. I don't know if the 97 was capable of that feature. If so, your dealer will have to do it with a Hand Held Tester.

Automatic central locking system activation at speeds > 8 mph was introduced on W210 vehicles in MY '98. Incorporating this feature into a '97 W210 will require addition of hardware.
