I read somewhere that when under the car, lubricate the rubber bushings on the suspension and sub frame mounts. The question is, on the new vehicles without grease fittings, is it proper to spray WD40 or Silicon on them? What else would they mean. Is there a procedure?

There are a few lubricants that might help with a rubber/noise problem, however there isn't any real advantage to spraying most of the rubber bushings under the car.

I bought a'83 300SD in '93 and the front end squeaked like a mouse. After spending a half day spraying the rubber bushings and bouncing the front end up and down, I was able to get rid of the squeaks. I used silicon spray. Now, every time I change the oil I will spray the rubber bushings with the silicon. Bill Lewallen..

Be careful with WD40 on this application, I've seen it eat some rubber. You don't know exactly what kind of rubber the bushings are made of and what kind of rubber WD40 attacks.

The silicone spray would be safest I think.

Good luck,
Larry
