Where to look for a vacuum leak?

Iam still trying to make my 16V idle. Where would I look for a vacuum leak big enough to prevent it from idling? Checked most of the fittings I can see with propane and carb cleaner. No luck? Checked most of items in the CIS section of the CD with no faults except the throttle valve swith that I should recheck, Any ideas or experiences. Thanks.

Turn off the engine and reach under the intake between the distributor and the power steering pump. There is a hose for the idle system that will blow off of the bottom...you can't see it, but if it's blown off, you will feel it.

Benzmac, Are you talking about the hose that comes from the auxilary air regulator? I checked it and its o.k. Still no idle.

Just in case your interested, the modern technique for locating vacuum leaks is the use of a "smoke machine".

This device applies 1psi of a very dense smoke into the chamber to be tested. It quickly indentifies the leak. I have even heard of people using it to find door lock vacuum leaks and evaporative systems leaks (common fuel smells).
