funny noise when flooring the car 300E. '89

One more thing, when I floor the car and go very fast, (for fun) I notice that the engine sounds kinds like an airplane engine with a high pitched sound. Is this normal?

It doesn't make the sound unless I do that.

This is probably the fan running. When the engine is warm, the fan can be engaged and be quite noisy.
