How loud?
Should the fuel pumps be on a 124 (400E)?
There are 2 of them..... Should you be able to hear them while standing next to the passenger's side? Does the pumps being audible imply there is any problem? TIA

Tracy..
Can you hear the sound when you are inside the car? I had a problem that I did hear the pumps work and it was LOUD... this lasted for about 8 months and then my fuel pump died. I replaced it with a new bosch fuel pump as well as filter. |

Is it buzzing or hissing?
Hissing is normal. Some here say theirs buzz too, but usually that's a sign of impending doom. Mine hiss audibly from the outside...that includes the R129. My VW has an aftermarket electric fuel pump and it buzzes (since new)...and you can hear it from the inside when you start up the car...once fuel pressure builds up, then the buzz changes to a low growl...
