Car Buzzer! AHHHHH!

Everyone, i do in fact love my mercedes like a member of the family, but that damn buzzer when i put the key in literally drives me up a wall. Where is this buzzer located and how can i replace it with something more subtle.. I dont want a bell either... I would like the same sounding buzzer as in the new Audi A4's... Something soft and continuous..

I'll trade you my barely audible seat belt relay . . . but I've also had to jump start the car three times last year because of accidentally leaving the lights on when parking the car.

I thought mine was bad enough - it comes on when I leave the lights on and open the door.

On the other hand, I always remember to turn them off now, as I'm worried my head may be exploded if I forget.

You could follow the sound and disconnect the wire, or there may be a fuse (but the fuse would almost certainly operate other stuff too).

I actually entertained that idea until I found where the buzzer was located. It was deep behind the instrument cluster, one of those parts that just isn't meant to be changed. Maybe when the evaporator gives up on my car and I'm in there, I'll change the buzzer to a chime.

If you put on your seatbelt before you turn the key, the buzzer will not sound.

Question: I have been told the reason why the overhead dome light doesn't come on when I open the driver's door (All other doors open turn on a light) is due to a failed seatbelt relay, a $60 part. My puddle light on the drivers door won't come on, either, unless the pass door is open. However, if the lights are on and I open the pass door, the buzzer sounds. If I have the key in and open the pass door, the buzzer sounds. If I open the pass door the dome light comes on and the red seatbelt warning light comes on. Is it really the problem, or is it something else?

Thanks

that relay is located under a plastic cover right under the hood latch in my car. I fixed it by resoldering it as opposed to buying a new one. I was also thinking of getting a different sound, maybe I can hook up a cell phone to it and select the ring i want

xp

My car came with the buzzer already silenced, and it's most enjoyable. My next mod is to wire the headlights to work only with the ignition in accessory or on position, like my Saabs were!
