92 300se W140,5 Speed Automatic

I have a question about my new(for me) 300SE,W140.
I just purchased the car and after 1000 miles and my mechanics
inspection(specialized in MB since 1971) everything works"like new"...it has 136000 miles.One thing I not ask him,now
he is on vacation, maybe somebody can answer to this question:
If the car comes to a complete stop, and I keep it like that for
more then 5-10 seconds, when I release the brakes the car will
not start by herself,I have to step on the gas to make it move,
if I touch the gas will start rolling smoothly. If I only stop it
briefly(like a stop sign,2 sec.) when I let the brakes go it will
start rolling same if I stop slightly down the hill or the engine is
still cold(higher rpm),there is no flare in the tranny, shifts perfect
cold or warm...do you think it is normal?

I have the same car except I think the 300's comes with a 4 speed and not 5 speed. I am pretty sure the 92s are 4 speed. Perhalps LHD have a different spec to RHD.

anyway, your description is perfrecly normal and I have the same thing. If you config you car to start on 1st gear, it will roll a little. If your car is configured to start on 2nd gear, by default, the car will not roll unless you step on it.
