Turn Signal Buzzing
Greetings, all:
I have an '82 240d, 275,000 miles. I've searched under "buzzing turn signals" but didn't see THIS problem... When I start the turn signal in either direction, the dash indicator and the exterior turn lamp go on for a second or so, then the dash indicator dims and a buzzing sound starts - this continues as long as the steering column switch is held up or down (right or left signal). I signal by articulating the switch manually, which works OK, but is obviously not right, or convenient. It does this now ALL the time. At first, I could get a few blinks with a little buzzing at first, then it would freeze and continue to buzz -- now it just freezes and buzzes for as long as I hold the switch in either direction. I also noticed at first that the signal was more likely to freeze and buzz when the lights were on - or probably when there was any other electrical load. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!! Generally speaking the buzzing is the hazard/relay/switch assy in the console. The H/R/S also controls the turn signals. We presume/assume all bulbs are correct for the vehicle? Replacement of the H/R/S is recomended.
