Bosch plug wire quality???

I am contemplating whether to stick with the MB wires or go with the prefabricated Bosch wires. Any experience with Bosch wires that I should be cautious of?

When I ordered a new set of ignition wires from Caliber Motors, they sent me Bosch which I assumed to be OEM replacements. The wires are not as heavy as the ones that came in my 300E but I can't speak to whether the quality is better or worse.

The removable ends appear to be the same as the original ones.

I think that most of the time the problems people have with these plug wires it that they damage them trying to take them off the plug w/o the proper tool. I've learned to spray the inside of the boots with H/D silicon spray and that makes it a snap to pull the boots off w/o damaging them.

In my experience, Bosch aftermarket wires may or may not have the same "build" quality as an OEM wire set also produced by Bosch. Many of the supposed quality issues manifest themselves after improper handling as Bud described in his response. With care, the aftermarket Bosch wires should last just as long as an OEM set and provide comparable performance.

My car (M119.97x) now has the OEM wires from Beru after learning one aftermarket quality lesson the hard way. If your maintenance budget permits, I would recommend the Beru product even above Bosch.
