'89 300TE - Door unlocked relocks

I am the new owner of a 300TE and have found a couple of trouble spots. One is that, whenever the driver's door is used to unlock the car, all the doors unlock, then relock in about 10 seconds. It happens intermittantly with both front doors, nearly always with the driver's door. Unlocking from inside passenger door sometimes leaves the car unlocked, other times performs as above.

Is this a hidden "feature" or might there be something wrong with the switch?
