Mirror - black rubber piece

Folks,

The black rubber molded piece between my mirror and my door is not looking that great. It sort of looks like it's cracking in many places.

Is this piece replaceable without purchasing an entire mirror?

Yes it is replaceable ... although some places would like you to believe you have to buy the entire mirror a$$embly.

Not too bad a job, about an hour. Be gentle with the interior triangle cover clip on the leading edge of the door. The top pops out and then it is easily lifted up and off. I put a dab of silicone paste on its little post to help removal in the future.

If I recall correctly, when the mirror comes off it requires the electric connectors to be disconnected.

The gasket is held in place at the corners by "loops" in the new gakset. You slip these loops over the "metal fingers" on the mirror housing. It is obvious, you'll see.

Don't forget to lube the mirror hinges etc while you are there. I also put on a UV protectant before assembling to try and prevent future sun damage.

I rolled down the window when doing this to hold the mirror while removing the attachment bolts from inside, found under the triangular cover. Note: the mirror assembly is heavier than some expect.

Do you happen to have a part number for this? Can this part be purchased outside of a dealership?

I don't have the part # handy. I will look further for it across the weekend.

Depending on the source, it might be available such as Fastlane.

OK,

If you happen to find a part number, I'd really appreciate it.

Looked and did not find the number. I believe this is a dealership specific part.

Thanks!

I think that's the right part#. My local dealer wants $70/side.

Anyone know of any other place I can purchase the parts?

Tell your dealer it's the RUBBER one, not the GOLD one you want.

Ha!!

Just found a guy selling these on EBAY for $40/pair. I jumped on it. The part number he sent match EXACTLY to what was posted by an individual on this thread.
