94 E320 Wgn Rear Seat Release
The right rear seat releases with a firm pull, but the left rear seat back requires a kung-fu kick while laying behind the back seat.
I've removed the interior panel, but need help understanding what gets adjusted to have the latch release properly. Your suggestions are appreciated. Bob |

Not sure if this will help, but did you try pushing the seatback in the opposite direction of the way it's supposed to go, and then trying it?
This method worked on my wagon's right rear trim panel when I needed to get to the CD changer mounted there.

Lube it!
I lubed all my seatback joints one day and it worked so smoothly I thought I broke something. Have come to learn that is the way it is supposed to work. Smooth and Easy.

Exactly the same thing happened to my wagon about two years ago. The left side was almost impossible to lower.
Took the car to the dealer and they said there was a defective linkage between the sensor which frees the seat lock (a small black sensor which is released when the door opens) and the seat locks. They fixed the linkage and the seat operated smoothly again.

Let me ask a dumb question... what should I be using to lubricate these seatback joints?
How about the door latches and hinges? thanks, Bob

Check and lube the safety release tab in the aft side of the door jam. It is supposed to pop up slightly when the door is opened. Ed
