rear lamp failure (good bulbs)

I have a 2000 e430 that I just had several dings removed including one on the trunk. I picked the car up last night and the left rear lamps are not working (all three). I switched one bulb to the right and it worked eliminating a fluky three bulbs blowing at the same time. I was wondering if I have a fuse problem or if the dealer would have had to remove the lamp assembly to clear coat and did not replace properly. Any thoughts? Where is the fuse box (the manual says the car has three)? I would prefer not to have to take it back and leave it for another week if ya know what I mean. - Thanks

solution

The rear lamp assembly is connected to the electrical system by a 5 prong female plug that is visible after removing the interior lining inside the trunk. The smooth side of the plug faces outward and plastic fasteners click when in place.
