Engine transplant
Does anyone know if I can put a 3.5 v8 from a 280 into my 1969 250. I want to look into doing a engine transplant. Are the mounts the same on the chassis. Do I need the tranny aswell and any other info would be great.

I would suggest reposting this in the Vintage Mercedes section. I'm sure you'll get much more response there.

The 3.5 will fit neatly into that chassis, however you will need the COMPLETE drive train including the driveshaft & trans.

Awesome. Do you know if the engine mounts fit straight in or will I have to fabricate some? What is a Mercedes 380 V8? Will this fit? Thanks for your help. Stu

The mercedes "380 V8" is the 3.8 liter M116 V8 that was used in the U.S. in 1981-1985 380 SL's and 1981-1985 380 SE / SEL's.

If I remember correctly, the US version of the 3.5 produced 250hp. The 3.8 only about 155.
