rubber behind filler panels under headlights? '87 W124
I switched to (wiperless) Euro lights a little while back and it seems like under the headlights there is a big gap between the headlight bottom and the filler panel I put there. It seems like there should be some sort of rubber in between there, like the rubber around door sills. there is nothing there now, just a blank space that you can see through. The car was in a front end accident before I bought it, so I thought maybe the rubber was not replaced after this. If there is indeed a piece of rubber or some other material that fills this gap, anyone know where I can get it?

No rubber on my 1995 E420
I just had to replace the lensunit on my passenger side headlight (1995 E420). The metal panel below the lens unit had no rubber trim on it at all.
Now, on my E420, the air intakes (2) are below each headlight (actually pulls air fron the grill area). I'm guessing that MB saw no reason to seal an area that was supposed to be ingesting air. However, the intake for your 300E may be in a different place. Troy 1995 E420 79k |

Yes there is a rubber trim piece that goes in there. I am sure the dealer would know the part number. Its about 2mm thick and fills the gap between the panel and headlight.

rubber piece
if you still have your old US headlights, you can reuse the rubber trim. It is held to the headlight housing by rubber tabs; just pull it out and the Euro housing has the same slots for the tabs. Otherwise, you can get this rubber piece from the dealer for around $7 each.
