both at once?
My 89 300 CE is leaking from the front crank seal. I'm taking it in to be fixed. My rule is I don't DIY jobs that require an expensive tool I'll use only once.
Does it make sense to have him replace the upper timing chain cover "U" gasket while he's in there? It's not leaking, but from searching this site I know it will, eventually. Additional cost about $100. |

He'll have to. The upper timing cover will also have to come off. You should also replace timing chain guides while you're there.
Good luck, |

There would be no reason to have the timing covers off to do the front crank seal.
There are a number of the same things necessary for both job so if there is a reason it would be good timing. I doubt I would recommend it on a car that wasn't leaking.
