I have an '85 190e 2.3 with around 177k miles.I usually dont use my AC because i drive with my windows open, but this weekend i decided to use it and noticed that the blower will not blow air while the car is running. If the car is not running and the keys are in the ignition, the blower will blow but as soon as i start the car it stops.
I can hear this strange noise coming through the air vents. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. later doug |
Could be the ignition switch. Check other systems in the run (not accessory) position. If the windows, horn, turn signals, etc. all work (including blower) and then fail when you start the car, you might have a bad ign switch. Also, just for the sake of recent issues, check and clean the fuse. BTW, describe the strange noise...

Start the car and then turn the switch back one to two millimeters. If this makes it come on, you need to have the ignition switch replaced.
