Hi folks sure hate to sound ignorant but would someone be kind enough to walk me through the replacement of the charcoal filter? I removed the panel under the glove box and saw what looked like computer modules. Looked under the driver's instrument panel and looked like the entire lower half of the assembly would have to come off and saw no hint that it even resembled the description in the maintenance manual. Thnkas for the help.
Oh second question. When draining the torque converter. Do you just add about 4 qts of ATF and crank the engine and allow the fluid to be pumped into the converter? Will it damage the internal pump by running empty for a few seconds until it gets ATF in it? Well, thanks for now appreciate the help from the pros. Leon H. |

Under the passenger's side under dash panel, there is an opening with two slide clips on them. The only filter you have to replace is the cabin filter. The carbon one usually stays clean.

The convertor will fill from the inside. You are OK with what you are doing.

Boy I feel stupid! I did a search and thought I understood that the charcoal was a good replacement for the cabin filter so that's why I bought it. H-mmm So will this huge 2" thick dog hip shaped filter fitin the cabin filter space or will I have to offer it up for sale?
Thanks. LH |

Hi, Leon:
The interior ventilation filter is located under the glove box. The filter came with the car is a non-charcoal one. But you can replace it with a charcoal one (part number 210-830-08-18). ------------------ Harry (94 C280) |

Hi Harry good to hear from you. Yeah I just went in again and took apart the cover. Found the filter cover to be a 1.5 x 8 inch or so cover and removed the blower cover too. Cleaned what I could and replaced the filter. Wrote MBUSA to about the wrong instructions in their maintenance manual. It was just flat out wrong for the 202. Maybe the 202 and the 140 were transposed but well I shared it with them hope it will help out others so they won't get so mislead and waste time. This is what makes this such a great forum. Appreciate eveyones help! another success story. Best to all Leon
