need help in removing the retaining ring off the head lamp on a 560SEL. I was able to pull off the socket, but the retaining ring just wont turn. any tricks in getting this thing off would be highly appreciated.

Use a little bit of WD40. Then if that doesn't work, you can use a long thin piece of wood to push on it.

the retainer ring is really stubborn. it wont move even with the wd40. now, the thin piece of wood, do i use this to turn the retainer ring? I understand that the retainer ring should be turned counter clockwise...is this correct?

just managed to remove the retainer ring by using the handles of a plier to grab onto the ears of the retainer ring as a leverage in turning it...so, DW40 plus pliers did the trick....
