94 E320 - warning lights meaning???

Ok, looking at this 94 E320.... to buy

It has two warning lights on

The first was towards the right it said srs or abs? which is it and what is it? Now I blanked out

the second one was ... u know I can't remember, hard to describe . Can someone run through the warning lights on the dash, I will recognize and can do a search... thanks.

Should I buy this car I will do a ppi, but want to get a heads up on these.

I can only draw one conclusion from those lights.

The owner of that car has done so little to it that he has used it up and now he wants someone else to pretend it is a car and buy it from him. Is he selling it for scrap?

If the guy will present a car with such obvious defects what other conclusion do you need? He obviously doesn't service it if he would present it for sale with such defects.

I call a vehicle owner such as him a conSUMEr. When they have consumed the car they expect someone to give them their money back. I'll guarantee he has told the technician on his last ten visits: don't spend no money on it as I'm selling it. Each event a consumption. I should write a book...

In the auto game that is one of the worlds greatest lies, right after the check's in the mail.

You have a solid point. The car is being sold by a dealer. Svc records stamps go up to about 70K miles, car now has 108K. Carfax shows one owner. Price seems low, $6K. Looks-wise - which I know is NOT enough, the car is immaculate all over.

Like I said looks wise it doesn't looked trashed at all, engine compartment, interior not worn, trunk, wheels, paint... all immaculate, so maybeee , maybe I don't know, LOl

thanks

You better be sure which lights. Either SRS or ABS are safety systems and for a dealer to present a car for sale with these faults you can throw away what I said. It is a criminal matter!

I'm relatively sure a car can not be solf by a dealer in the state of Florida with known SRS or ABS problems. Could be wrong, but a dealer starts off with the ethics against him, no real dealer would sell a car with those systems in known default.

Had a dealer with a 124 car that had both lights put out with a 3/32nds drill through the facia through the icon and through the two bulbs. No lights, no knowledge ...right... WRONG! He sure didn't like it when I pointed it out to him. The only reason I noticed was that after I found the OVP to be the reason for his hard cold starting I wondered why his ABS light hadn't been on, so I looked. The ABS probably was fixed at the same time but now wouldn't work as the bulb was in failure and any failure shuts down the system.

I know you are not talking about the white one at Kendall Toyota, the reason the price is so low is because it has major problems that they can't, or dont want to fix ( i know a tech that works there). I went there and looked at it myself. Whoever gets that car will have a good looking, bad running, poorly maintained E320. A 94 E320 wouldnt go for such a low price at Kendall Toyota, without a hidden major problem(s).

YEah the one in Kendall Toyota... It drove fine... bad running? Didn't seem like to me, but thanks...Why would they try to sell it then if they can just auctoin it off...It really did drive fine, NOT that says anything about the car, but.....LMK what your tech freind said, thanks.... hmm

I also looked at the BMW 96-97 329is, but the interior looked more worn than the 77K miles or so it showed... The E class was "in appearance" in much better condition. They also had a 97 C class, but $13K.....

94 E320 warning lights

Might ought to listen to Steve as he will not steer you wrong. There is nothing worse than a poorly running Benz. Sad because auto trader is where i purchased my Benz from. At some time or another we have all been taken but do not allow this to happen to you even thought the cosmetics look good.

I concur, on Steve's comment and others.... all taken into consideration. This is only the beginning of looking for a car, and i am not going to fall in love with one, as I know these cars are hard sells in South FL, it is a buyer's market.... I am in no rush.. But, will look at them close, before I go spending ppi $ on every one I like, LOL..
