Hi, I had read the post regarding non-german tail light bulbs being a possible problem for cruise control. Sure enough, I changed mine and the cruise works! I thought I was going to have to buy a new amplifier or actuator, or both! I REALLY appreciate the tip! Too bad the cigarette butt trick didn't fix my tach, but I'm thrilled to have cruise for less than $2.00!

Carl,
Where did you get your bulbs and what brand are they? I may try this myself. Thanks. ------------------ Jim Heetderks 1985 300D 210k mi. |
I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO KNOW WHAT KIND OF BULBS YOU BOUGHT IT MIGHT SAVE ME SOME MONEY

Hi all,
I recently bought some replacement bulbs at our local Kragen Automotive store. I found Sylvania brand bulbs that have some "European" number on them that are made by Osram in Germany. I bought some single filament ones for the brake lights and some for the tail lights. They cost almost double what the "regular" ones cost. I've also bought ones at Kragen (1156 I think) that had the Sylvania brand on the packaging and turned out to be made by Osram once I opened the package. ------------------ Jay Yambrovich 1989 300 E 1992 190-E 2.3 |
Sorry for the delay in responding! I checked with the mechanic today and the bulbs are Osram. The bulb that was causing the problem was a GE. He had heard of this problem in '86 and newer cars, but not in pre '86 cars. I'm thrilled it worked!
